Fire crews in western North Carolina are making progress in containing several wildfires that have burned thousands of acres in recent days. Cooler temperatures and higher humidity have helped slow the spread of the fires.

In McDowell County, the Bee Rock Creek Fire has burned an estimated 2,085 acres and is 94 percent contained. Some trails and sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the area remain closed for safety.

The Haoe Lead Fire in Graham County, located within a wilderness area, has burned over 3,100 acres and is currently 29 percent contained. No homes are threatened, and no evacuations have been ordered.

The Sam Davis Road Fire in Swain County is fully contained after burning 559 acres. Earlier evacuation orders for surrounding communities have been lifted.

No injuries have been reported. Crews continue to monitor the region closely, as dry and breezy conditions remain a concern for potential flare-ups.
