Mooresville, NC – On Saturday, August 2, 2025, Mooresville Police responded to multiple incidents resulting in three arrests related to assault and weapons charges.
Officers were first dispatched to 132 Meadow Hill Circle for a welfare check after a caller, identified as Stephen Johnson, expressed concern for the safety of a female acquaintance at the location. Upon arrival, officers located the woman, who showed visible signs of having been assaulted. First responders provided medical assistance at the scene.
While officers were still addressing the initial call, a second report came in regarding a disturbance involving a weapon at 429 East Plaza Drive. Callers reported that one individual was threatening another with a handgun. When officers arrived, they encountered Stephen Christopher Johnson—the original caller from the first incident—and another individual, Brett Patrick Moir.
Witnesses at the scene reported that Johnson was allegedly pistol-whipping Moir, who appeared to be attempting to flee. Both men were detained. During the investigation, officers determined that Johnson had been in possession of a firearm prior to their arrival. They also discovered that the firearm had been removed from the scene and concealed by another individual, Heather Nichole McCann.
Following the investigation, all three individuals were arrested and charged:
- Brett Patrick Moir, 36, of Mooresville, was charged with assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious bodily injury, assault on a female, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and communicating threats. He is being held without bond.
- Stephen Christopher Johnson, 43, of Mooresville, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats. His bond was set at $2,500 secured.
- Heather Nichole McCann, 42, of Mooresville, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and accessory after the fact. She received a $1,500 secured bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
