Water Line Replacement Project Reaches Key Milestones in Statesville

by | Nov 5, 2025

Statesville’s Water Line Replacement Project is continuing to make steady progress, with work advancing through several key areas of the city as crews move closer to connecting the new system.

Construction in the Water Street area has now been completed, allowing the project to shift toward Stockton Street and Brevard Street. One of the major milestones — installing the interstate water line crossing — has also been finished. That section is now ready for connection to both the Water Treatment Plant extension and the Carolina Avenue tie-in.

Crews have continued installing pipe past Iredell Memorial Hospital and are now working south along Brookdale Drive. Once installation is complete, the new lines will undergo pressure testing and disinfection before the system is submitted to the State of North Carolina for approval.

After the state grants clearance, crews will begin transferring service connections from the old system to the new one, followed by final street restoration in the areas impacted by construction.

The city has also made progress on the financial side of the project. To date, Statesville has received $2,957,173 in reimbursements, representing approximately 14.8 percent of the $20 million in state grant funding awarded for the infrastructure improvement initiative.

City officials say the project is designed to improve long-term water service reliability and system capacity across Statesville, replacing aging lines and improving performance in heavily used areas.
