On Monday, July 7, 2025, Kaylan Obrien Brandon entered a guilty plea to multiple charges, including Death by Distribution and Involuntary Manslaughter, in connection with the November 1, 2023 overdose deaths of Brittany Peace and Heather Wilson.
The case began when officers from the Statesville Police Department responded to a call on South Meeting Street, where both victims were found deceased. Following the investigation and evidence collected at the scene, Brandon was identified as a suspect and taken into custody later that day.
Brandon was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Lisa Johnson-Tonkins to a maximum of 12 years in prison.
The Statesville Police Department acknowledged the outcome of the case and expressed appreciation to the District Attorney’s Office and lead prosecutor Chris Cleaveland for their efforts.
According to the department, the case reflects an ongoing effort to address overdose-related incidents and the unlawful distribution of controlled substances.
