The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body of Angel Ernesto Carabello, 14, has been recovered from the lake by the agency’s Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) team. Angel had been reported missing earlier in the day near the Stutts Road area of Mooresville.
Authorities began an extensive search on Wednesday afternoon after Angel was last seen in the area. He was described as approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, and last seen wearing a red t-shirt, jeans, and brown Timberland boots.
Search efforts included multiple units from the Sheriff’s Office, including drone teams, lake patrol, and deputies who canvassed surrounding neighborhoods.
The Sheriff’s Office originally issued a request for public assistance in locating Angel, urging anyone with information to contact authorities immediately.
Officials have not released further details surrounding the circumstances of his disappearance. The investigation remains ongoing.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to Angel’s family.
