Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, two individuals were taken into custody following an investigation involving illegal drugs and outstanding felony warrants.
Narcotics detectives had received reliable information that John Anthony Mazzullo was staying at the Masters Inn located at 702 Sullivan Road in Statesville. Information they received said Mazzullo was dealing Methamphetamine and trying to avoid arrest on multiple outstanding warrants for : Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury, Felony Conspiracy, Felony Breaking and or Entering a Motor Vehicle, and Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property.
Investigators began surveilling the motel and soon identified a second individual, Cody Shane Jett. During the investigation, detectives determined that Jett was supplying large amounts of Methamphetamine in Iredell County.
After taking Mazzullo into custody, investigators obtained a search warrant, searched his hotel room, and located evidence connecting Jett to drug trafficking. When Jett later returned to the area, deputies conducted a traffic stop and found a half pound of Methamphetamine worth $22,700.00 in his vehicle.
Both Mazzullo and Jett were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. John Anthony Mazzullo was served with his outstanding warrants. He appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson, who issued a $50,000.00 secured bond on these charges.
Cody Shane Jett was charged with: Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine by Possession, Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine by Transportation, and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for the Sale of a Controlled Substance. He also appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson, who issued no bond because Jett was out on bond for unrelated charges.
Sheriff Darren Campbell adds, “This is another example of Law Enforcement and the community working together to reduce crime and make our community safer.”
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
