Troutman — A reported theft at Lowe’s Hardware led to the arrest of two individuals on Friday, June 6, following a brief foot chase and physical altercation involving law enforcement officers.
According to authorities, officers responded to the store around 12:00 p.m. after receiving a report of larceny. Upon arrival, they located a male and a female suspect in the parking lot. As officers attempted to take the male suspect, identified as 46-year-old John Anderson of Gastonia, into custody, he allegedly resisted arrest and fled the scene on foot.
An officer pursued Anderson, catching up with him shortly after. A struggle ensued, resulting in both the officer and the suspect falling to the ground. Anderson fled again, this time running into the store, where he was eventually apprehended by additional officers.
The female suspect, identified as 35-year-old Anna Jenkins of Huntersville, was arrested without incident.
Anderson faces charges including felony conspiracy, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods, and resisting a public officer. He is being held on a $5,000 secured bond.
Jenkins was charged with felony conspiracy, felony larceny, and possession of stolen goods. She was also served with outstanding warrants from Gaston County on similar felony charges. Her bond was set at $10,000 secured.
One officer sustained injuries during the arrest. He was treated at a local medical facility and later released.
The investigation is ongoing.
