Troutman, NC – On Sunday, October 13, at approximately 3 a.m., officers with the Troutman Police Department located a vehicle suspected of being involved in a breaking and entering incident in Cornelius. A traffic stop was conducted on Charlotte Highway near West Crosstie Lane.
During the stop, officers discovered a large amount of marijuana in the possession of one of the occupants, identified as 19-year-old Jason Smalls-Jackson of Greensboro. Another occupant, 21-year-old Ishmael Pickard of Greensboro, was found to be in possession of a concealed firearm.
Officers determined that Pickard is a convicted felon and had multiple outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court on charges including conspiracy to deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, and resisting a public officer.
Pickard was arrested on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a concealed gun. Smalls-Jackson was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Both individuals were taken before a magistrate and held in custody without bond, as they were already out on bond for prior charges.
