Early Monday morning, Troutman police arrested a 56-year-old man following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to the Troutman Police Department, the incident occurred on November 4 at approximately 12:42 a.m., when officers stopped a vehicle on Charlotte Highway near the I-77 on-ramp. While speaking with the driver, identified as Douglas Groce of Statesville, officers observed narcotics paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the discovery of approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine and 6 grams of cocaine. Groce was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of cocaine, and felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.
He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where a magistrate ordered him held on a $300,000 secured bond.
