A traffic stop on Interstate 77 North near the 63-mile marker resulted in the arrest of Jerome Victor Delact, 23, of Brockton, Massachusetts. Authorities reported the discovery of more than two pounds of marijuana and four firearms during the incident, including one firearm that had previously been reported stolen.
Deputy M.B. Talbert and his canine partner, Groot, were called to assist during the stop. According to law enforcement, the canine alerted to the presence of contraband, leading to a search of the vehicle. During the search, deputies found over two pounds of marijuana and four firearms concealed within the vehicle. One of the firearms was determined to have been reported stolen from Greer, South Carolina.
Delact was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He faces several charges, including felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A $100,000 secured bond was issued by Magistrate Thompson.
