Iredell County, NC — Three individuals were arrested last Saturday, June 7, following a traffic stop conducted by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office on Island Ford Road near Lookout Dam Road.
The suspects were identified as 32-year-old Constance Marie Mercado of 9th Street SE in Conover, 31-year-old Shawn Burton Ramsey of 21st Street Drive SE in Hickory, and 35-year-old Scott Eric Monk of Mt. Olive Church Road in Newton.
Deputies stopped a 2019 Honda Accord and, during the course of the stop, learned that the driver, identified as Mercado, had an outstanding criminal summons from Catawba County related to possession of drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the discovery of approximately 4.05 grams of cocaine, 65 dosage units of alprazolam, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Mercado was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle for the use of a controlled substance. She was also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ramsey was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding order for arrest from Catawba County served on him at the time of the stop.
Monk was charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. According to authorities, Monk was already out on bond at the time of his arrest and was held without bond following the incident.
Mercado’s bond was set at $12,500 secured. Ramsey received a $40,000 secured bond. All three individuals are scheduled to appear in Iredell County District Court on June 30.
