Statesville, NC – A Taylorsville man has been arrested and charged with felony statutory rape following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
60-year-old Charles Andrew Harmon, of Old Charlotte Road in Taylorsville, was taken into custody on March 1 and is being held without bond at the Iredell County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for March 24.
The investigation began on January 24, when the Rowan County Department of Social Services reported a possible sexual offense involving a child to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. The alleged incident took place in Statesville in late 2023.
During the investigation, detectives conducted witness interviews, collected relevant documents, and arranged a forensic interview with the juvenile victim. Harmon was subsequently identified as the suspect and arrested.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more evidence is reviewed.
