Take the Plunge for Special Olympics Iredell County

The 2025 Special Olympics Iredell County Polar Plunge is set for Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the City of Statesville Leisure Pool. The annual event raises funds to support local athletes with intellectual disabilities through year-round training, competition, and health services.

Event Schedule:

  • 10:00 AM: Registration Opens
  • 10:30 AM: Opening Ceremonies
  • 10:40 AM: Costume Contest
  • 11:00 AM: PeeWee Plunge
  • 11:10 AM: Polar Plunge
  • 11:45 AM: Awards

The event is open to individuals and teams, with registration fees set at $50 for individual participants and $250 for teams of five. Participants are encouraged to raise additional funds to further support Special Olympics programs in Iredell County.

Fundraising and Incentives:

Participants who raise at least $50 will receive a Polar Plunge T-shirt, with additional incentives available for higher fundraising totals. All funds raised help provide opportunities for Special Olympics athletes in the local community.

Participation Details:

Participants can wear bathing suits, costumes, or other suitable attire, but clothing with rivets, metal buckles, or other items that could damage the pool’s facilities is not allowed. A towel and a change of clothes are recommended, and locker rooms will be available.

Purpose:

Funds raised through the Polar Plunge help provide sports training, competition, and leadership opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. These programs aim to promote inclusion, skill development, and confidence.
