On July 18, 2025, law enforcement officers conducted an investigation into a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Perth Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana, prompting a probable cause search.
During the search, officers discovered marijuana and a concealed firearm inside the vehicle. The driver and sole occupant, identified as 21-year-old Dalton McAlister of Troutman, was found to have a prior conviction in Gaston County for carrying a concealed firearm.
McAlister was arrested and charged with felony carrying a concealed gun and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. A magistrate ordered that he be held without bond, citing his release status on multiple pre-trial orders at the time of the arrest.
