Statesville, NC – On Saturday, June 28, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers with the Statesville Police Department Traffic Unit observed a vehicle operating erratically near the intersection of Inglewood Road and Grove Road. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to comply and fled from the scene, driving through multiple residential backyards in an apparent attempt to evade law enforcement.
A brief vehicle pursuit ensued before the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued the individual and were able to take him into custody without further incident.
The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Austin Ty’Kim “Kimbe” Morrison of Statesville. Authorities confirmed that Morrison had active warrants for murder in connection with the June 14, 2025, homicide on Deaton Street, which resulted in the death of Timmy Jaurice Moore.
Following his arrest, Morrison was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was served with the outstanding murder warrant and was held without bond on that charge.
In addition to the murder charge, Morrison now faces multiple charges related to the events of June 28, including Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, Resist, Obstruct, and Delay an Officer, Possession of Marijuana, and several traffic violations.
The case remains under active investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information relevant to the case to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
