Statesville experienced a significant power outage on Tuesday evening after a vehicle accident damaged a power pole in the 500 block of N. Oakland Avenue. The incident initially left approximately 3,600 customers without electricity.
Statesville Public Power crews responded quickly, rerouting power where possible and working on-site to assess the damage. By 10:00 p.m., the vehicle had been removed, and crews had begun the necessary repairs. Officials estimated that full restoration would take about three hours from that point.
Thanks to the efforts of the utility crews, power was fully restored later in the evening. Officials thanked residents for their patience while the crews worked safely and efficiently to repair the damage.
Authorities also reminded the public to avoid the area during emergency repairs for safety reasons.
