Statesville Police Department Expansion and Parking Deck Project Progresses

by | Jun 6, 2025

The City of Statesville continues to move forward with the expansion of the Statesville Police Department and the construction of a new parking deck. As of this week, demolition of the old Parrish Tire building, located at the project site, is approximately 95% complete. With the majority of the structure now removed, crews are preparing to begin grading operations in the coming days.

In addition to site preparation, installation of a silt fence is scheduled to begin this week. The silt fence, required as part of erosion control measures, will be placed along the back of the curb. As a result, certain sections of the adjacent sidewalk will be temporarily closed to the public.

The project contractor is coordinating with the City of Statesville Engineering Department to develop and implement a safe pedestrian detour route. Once finalized, clear signage will be installed around the area to guide foot traffic and ensure public safety during the closure.

City officials emphasize that safety and communication remain top priorities as the project advances. The expansion is expected to provide improved facilities for the police department and add much-needed parking infrastructure in the downtown area.

Further updates will be provided as construction milestones are reached and new phases of the project begin. Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow city announcements for the latest information.
