Statesville Man Arrested on Methamphetamine and Alcohol Charges

A Statesville man was arrested Tuesday night, September 16, 2025, after deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office discovered methamphetamine and an open container of alcohol during a traffic stop.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting a license checkpoint around 11:00 p.m. on Old Mocksville Road at Chief Thomas Road when a Kia Sorento driven by 43-year-old Charlie Franklin Jones approached. Officers reported seeing an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle.

Jones was asked to step out of the vehicle, at which point deputies located crystal methamphetamine in his pocket. Authorities said he later admitted to having additional bags of meth inside the vehicle, which were seized.

Jones was charged with felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol violation.

He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where bond was set at $25,000 secured. A District Court appearance is scheduled for October 7.
