60-year-old Rickey Eugene Young of Abernathy Avenue in Statesville has been arrested by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the theft of electrical materials from a home construction site. Young is charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense and misdemeanor larceny.

The case began on October 23, when deputies responded to a report that electrical wiring valued at more than $700 had been stolen from a residential construction site in eastern Iredell County. The wiring had been delivered for installation during the building process.

During the investigation, detectives identified Young as a suspect and later learned that he had sold a large quantity of electrical wire to L. Gordon’s Iron & Metal the day after the theft occurred. The wiring he sold was confirmed to match the stolen materials.

Based on the evidence, investigators obtained warrants for Young’s arrest. On October 31, deputies located and took him into custody. At the time of his arrest, Young was already out on bond for an unrelated unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge.

Young was taken before a magistrate, and his bond was set at $20,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 19.
