The City of Statesville has announced facility closures and service schedule changes in observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Christmas Holiday Schedule
City offices, including the Statesville Recreation Center and the Bentley Community Center, will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.
Residential garbage and recycling collection will follow a revised schedule:
- Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be collected on Tuesday.
- Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday.
Commercial roll-out container collection will also operate on a modified schedule:
- Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Monday.
- Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Tuesday.
- Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Wednesday.
Leaf collection will be suspended during Christmas week as sanitation crews prioritize garbage and recycling service. Crews will begin curbside collection of live, undecorated Christmas trees on Monday, Dec. 29.
Residents are reminded of the following recycling guidelines:
- Shiny or glittery wrapping paper is not recyclable; ribbons and bows should be removed.
- Cardboard must be flattened before being placed in recycling carts.
- Twist ties, ribbons, bows, electric cords, and other “tanglers” are not recyclable.
- Only No. 1 and No. 2 plastic jugs, tubs, and bottles are accepted.
- Glass is not accepted for recycling.
New Year’s Day Holiday Schedule
City offices will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day. The Statesville Recreation Center and Bentley Community Center will operate regular hours on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and will be closed on Jan. 1.
Residential garbage and recycling routes normally collected on Thursday and Friday will be picked up on Friday.
Commercial roll-out container routes scheduled for Thursday and Friday will also be collected on Friday.
