Second Arrest Made in Hickory New Year’s Day Shooting

HICKORY, N.C. — Police have made a second arrest in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting that left one person seriously injured.

Patsy Elaine Humphries, 31, of Lenoir, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. She joins Javier Trevino Jr., also of Lenoir, who was previously arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of 2nd Street Northwest and Main Avenue Northwest. The victim, identified as Jordan Ramey of Yadkinville, was found near the sidewalk at the scene. He was initially transported to Frye Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. As of the latest report, Ramey is in stable condition.

According to authorities, the suspects were involved in an altercation with another group nearby when gunfire erupted, striking Ramey.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not ruled out additional arrests or charges.
