On Friday, June 6, 2025, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Emergency Response Team (SERT), narcotics investigators, and members of the Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at a residence located at 120 Fairdale Road, northwest of Statesville.
The investigation began after the Sheriff’s Office received complaints from local residents about suspected drug activity at the address. Surveillance was conducted by narcotics detectives, who later confirmed the reports. During the investigation, James William Smith was identified as a suspect. Undercover officers reportedly made multiple purchases of crystal methamphetamine from Smith inside the home.
Based on the evidence gathered, a search warrant was obtained and carried out. Two individuals, James William Smith and Kira Holly James, were found inside the residence during the search.
Authorities reported the seizure of approximately 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 71 dosage units of clonazepam, and 25 dosage units of Subutex. The estimated street value of the narcotics was placed at $2,105.
Smith and James were arrested at the scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.
James William Smith was charged with four counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, and felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for the sale or use of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $120,000 secured.
Kira Holly James was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance, and felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for the sale or use of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $45,000 secured.
The case remains under investigation.
