Iredell County is pleased to announce the promotion of Rodney Harris from Assistant County Manager to Deputy County Manager, effective immediately. Harris has served as Assistant County Manager since April 2024 and brings a wealth of experience in public administration and county finance to his new role.
Harris started his local government career with Mecklenburg County as an enterprise management analyst before being promoted to director of business and financial management and procurement manager. He also served as financial manager for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and as deputy county manager for Cabarrus County.
“Rodney has demonstrated exemplary leadership, professionalism, and a deep commitment to efficient County operations,” said Iredell County Manager Beth Milton. “In this expanded role, he will continue to play a critical role in supporting County administration and advancing services for our residents.”
As Deputy County Manager, Harris will collaborate directly with the County Manager to oversee departmental coordination, strategic planning, and day-to-day county operations. He will also represent the County Manager in their absence.
Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in public administration (MPA), both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as a certificate for participation in the North Carolina Municipal and County Administration Course and Public Executive Leadership Academy (PELA), both through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Certified Local Government Finance Officer (CLGFO) and Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
