Motorists traveling through downtown Mooresville should prepare for traffic delays and temporary lane closures as construction crews continue work on a water line replacement project along East Center Avenue. The project is set to resume on Tuesday, July 22, starting at 8:00 a.m., and is expected to take several days to complete.
The eastbound lane of East Center Avenue will be closed between North Church Street and Elm Street while work is underway. Flaggers will be stationed in the area to assist with traffic control and help guide vehicles safely through or around the construction zone.
The project is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the reliability and safety of Mooresville’s water system. Town officials say that replacing the aging water line now will help avoid potential system failures and service disruptions in the future.
Businesses and homes located along the affected stretch of road will remain accessible throughout the construction, although some brief water service interruptions may occur. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, watch for workers, and follow all posted signage to ensure safety for everyone in the area.
Residents are advised to plan for minor travel delays and consider alternate routes during peak traffic hours. The Town of Mooresville will provide updates as the project progresses, including any changes to the construction schedule.
For additional information or to report concerns related to the project, residents can contact Mooresville Public Utilities.
