Preliminary site work has begun at Historic Moor Park in Mooresville as part of a planned renovation project aimed at expanding opportunities for year-round events and enhancing the southern gateway into the downtown area.
Initial preparations include the installation of construction fencing, erosion control measures, and upcoming demolition work. These efforts mark the beginning of a broader revitalization effort for the longstanding community venue.
Moor Park has been an active site in Mooresville since 1939 and was home to the minor league Mooresville Moors until 1953. It is also notable as the place where Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Hoyt Wilhelm began his career. Today, the park hosts a variety of youth sports teams and community events throughout the year.
