Police Seek Help Identifying Driver in Bus Stop Violation

The Statesville Police Department is requesting the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a school bus stop arm violation on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

The incident occurred around 2:36 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Meeting Street. A dark gray or black Volkswagen—believed to be either a Jetta or Virtus—was seen passing a stopped school bus that had its stop arm extended. At the time of the violation, the vehicle did not have a visible license plate.

Authorities emphasize that passing a stopped school bus is both illegal and a serious safety risk. The police department is actively investigating the incident and asking for assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the violation or can provide details about the vehicle or driver involved.
