Mooresville, NC – The Mooresville Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on Lark Glen Drive on December 12, 2025. At approximately 9:04 p.m., officers received multiple calls from concerned residents reporting shots fired, along with an alert from ShotSpotter, an acoustic gunshot detection system. Officers located several spent shell casings in the middle of the road.

According to the investigation, two males were walking toward Selma Drive when they were fired upon by two individuals near another apartment building. Both males told detectives they did not know who fired at them and did not return fire. They ran back to an apartment on Lark Glen Drive, where officers detected a strong odor of marijuana.

Surveillance footage reviewed by detectives showed that one of the males, who is under 18, discharged a firearm while running back to the apartment. Possession of a firearm by a minor is prohibited by law.

Police executed a search warrant at the apartment and recovered three firearms. One firearm was confirmed stolen, and another had an altered serial number. Investigators determined the incident was gang-related, based on the presence of documented gang members at the scene.

The details of the incident were presented to the Department of Public Safety Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. No secure custody orders were issued for any of the juveniles involved.
