Statesville Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Walmart parking lot on Crossroads Drive on Sunday, June 29. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:30 p.m. No injuries were reported at the scene.
According to law enforcement, the gunfire appeared to be a targeted act, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the area to identify those involved.
The Walmart location remained open following the incident, and store representatives confirmed their cooperation with the investigation.
This case is not believed to be connected to two fatal shootings that occurred earlier in the month.
On June 14, officers responded to two separate scenes. In the early morning hours, a 25-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds on East Allison Street and was pronounced dead at the scene. Later that afternoon, a 33-year-old man was shot near Abernathy Ball Field and later died at the hospital. A suspect has been identified in one of the earlier cases and remains at large.
