Motorists traveling on Interstate 77 through Mooresville and surrounding areas should prepare for significant overnight lane closures later this week.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, maintenance work will take place between mile markers 30.5 and 37 in both directions of I-77, with mobile lane and ramp closures expected to cause a high impact on traffic.
The closures are scheduled to begin Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until Friday, August 22, 2025, at 5:00 a.m. Work will occur during the same timeframe on both Thursday and Friday nights.
Crews will implement moving closures, including left, right, and ramp lanes, as they conduct nighttime maintenance along the corridor. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, use caution in the work zone, and consider alternate routes when possible.
The maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and traffic flow along I-77 in Iredell County.
