The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a school bus stop violation that occurred Wednesday morning (February 26) on Hoover Road at Marthas Vineyard Drive in Troutman. The incident took place just after 7:30 a.m. as children were boarding the bus.
A motorcyclist traveling north on Hoover Road illegally passed the stopped school bus while its warning lights were activated and stop arm extended. The rider continued north without stopping. This marks the second reported incident of a motorcycle passing a stopped school bus in Iredell County this week.
Authorities have identified a person of interest and are asking for the public’s help. The motorcycle appeared to be a TaoTao or Kayo 200cc dirt bike. The rider was wearing a black helmet with the word “FLY” on it, a red puffer jacket, camo pants, white Nike Air Force 1 shoes, and a black backpack.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
