A Mooresville teenager has been arrested following a crash that injured a police officer Saturday night in Iredell County.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Gabriel Matthew Cline of Mooresville was arrested and charged with felony serious injury by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, driving by a person under 21 after consuming alcohol, carrying a concealed weapon, reckless driving, and possessing an open container of alcohol.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:38 p.m. Saturday when a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Cline was traveling north on NC 801. Investigators said the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the centerline, and collided with a southbound Mooresville Police Department patrol vehicle.
Cline was taken to a local hospital by EMS, where he was later cleared. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond at the Iredell County Magistrate’s Office. The Mooresville police officer involved was also transported to a hospital and later released.
