Mooresville, NC – On July 24, 2025, officers with the Mooresville Police Department responded to a report involving the possible kidnapping of a 4-year-old child. Upon investigation, officers determined that the child was in the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services but had been placed with a relative.
Authorities allege that the child’s mother, Haley Ervin, 30, of Mooresville, went to the relative’s residence and took the child without authorization.
The following day, on July 25, detectives with the Mooresville Police Department, working with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at a residence in Rowan County. Both Ervin and the child were located at that location.
Ervin was arrested and charged with First Degree Kidnapping. She was transported to the Iredell County Jail, where she is being held without bond.
The child was safely returned to the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services.
