MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A Mooresville pet grooming business is under investigation after videos surfaced online showing an employee at Classy Critters Pet Resort and Spa aggressively handling dogs.
One video shows the employee slapping and possibly punching a dog. Another captures the same person lifting and slamming a dog onto a grooming table. The footage, reportedly recorded a month ago by a former employee, was posted to social media on Friday and has since been viewed over a million times.
The videos sparked public outrage, and a Change.org petition calling for the business to be shut down has gained more than 1,000 signatures.
In a public statement, the owner called the behavior “totally unacceptable” and confirmed the employee is no longer with the business. “I hope the actions of one bad egg do not reflect on Classy Critters and the entire staff,” the post read.
Iredell County Animal Services has launched an investigation. Officials say the case is active and ongoing, and no arrests have been made. The name of the employee has not been released.
