A Mooresville man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a traffic stop earlier this month. According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, 68-year-old Norman Eugene Frontis, Jr., of Bell Street in Mooresville, was arrested on a series of drug-related and other offenses.

Frontis has been charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and felony identity theft. In addition, he faces misdemeanor charges including possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without an operator’s license, and driving with expired registration.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on April 12, when a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo driven by Frontis. During the stop, Frontis allegedly provided the name and date of birth of another individual. However, when the information did not match the driver’s license photo, the deputy was able to verify Frontis’ true identity. Further investigation revealed an outstanding order for arrest dating back to 2016.

A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered cocaine, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia. Frontis was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was held under a $50,000 secured bond.

Frontis is scheduled to appear in Iredell County District Court on May 1. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Frontis has a criminal record that includes prior convictions for felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor larceny, 19 counts of writing worthless checks, and additional misdemeanor offenses.

The investigation remains ongoing.
