Mooresville Board of Commissioners Presents Proclamations and Recognitions

At its meeting on Monday night, the Mooresville Board of Commissioners issued several proclamations and recognitions highlighting local achievements and observances for the month of May.

Commissioner Gary West, joined by Assistant Police Chiefs Rhonda Faust and Jamie Quinn, recognized May 11–17 as National Police Week and honored Mooresville Police Department Crime Analyst Monee Correll for receiving the 2024 Crime Analyst of the Year Award.

Commissioner Eddie Karriker proclaimed May 2025 as Leave a Legacy Month in Mooresville, joined by Jody Taylor from the United Way of Iredell County. Commissioner Tommy DeWeese, also accompanied by Taylor, declared May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

Commissioner Eddie Dingler and Randy DuTeau of the Mooresville Convention and Visitors Bureau recognized May 4–10 as National Travel and Tourism Week.

Commissioner Lisa Qualls led two recognitions for Lake Norman High School: the girls basketball team for winning its first 4A state championship and the show choir, Showformance, for earning multiple awards, including the 2025 State Championship at the NC Association for Scholastic Activities. The choir performed at the meeting following the announcement.

The Mooresville Youth Council also presented its end-of-year report and was congratulated by the Board for receiving an award from the NC State Youth Council.
