This morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., McDowell County 911 received a report of a possible active shooter at McDowell High School. Emergency personnel are on scene, and law enforcement has completed a primary search of the building. At this time, no victims have been located, no shots have been heard, and no confirmed threat has been identified.
Sheriff Ricky Buchanan and McDowell County School Superintendent Tracy Grit are on the scene, leading the response, with support from emergency chiefs representing multiple agencies.
