Portions of North Center Street in Statesville will experience traffic changes in early September as part of the city’s ongoing Waterline Replacement Project.
A partial lane closure is scheduled to begin as soon as Wednesday, September 3, between West Water Street and Stockton Street. Flaggers will help direct traffic, though motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
Starting Friday, September 5, this same section of North Center Street will be fully closed for approximately two and a half weeks. During the full closure, the road will remain accessible only to local business traffic. City officials note that the schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
Detours will be in place for both directions of traffic:
- Northbound drivers should use East Water Street, turn left onto North Tradd Street, then left onto Stockton Street to return to North Center Street.
- Southbound drivers should use Stockton Street, turn right onto North Tradd Street, then right onto East Water Street to return to North Center Street.
