Iredell-Statesville Schools recently held an open meeting to discuss the various metrics used to evaluate the district’s performance. The meeting featured presentations from two leading statisticians, one from Appalachian State University (ASU) and another from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), who analyzed and quantified the district’s progress and challenges.
The statisticians highlighted that in many metrics, Iredell-Statesville Schools outperformed other districts and scored well above the average, showcasing the district’s strong performance in areas such as student achievement and teacher effectiveness. I-SS outperformed other districts in key metrics, including reading, math, and graduation rates, among others.
However, I-SS ranks among the state’s lowest in per-pupil expenditures, coming in 100th out of 116 districts.
The discussion also focused on the importance of addressing funding shortfalls. Participants emphasized the need for improved financial support to sustain and build on the district’s successes while addressing remaining challenges.
