Iredell County SRO Deputy Rankins Appointed to Governor’s Student Safety Council

Statesville, NC – Governor Josh Stein has appointed Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Rankins to the Governor’s Advisory Council for Student Safety and Well-Being, naming him the only School Resource Officer (SRO) among the council’s members.

Deputy Rankins will represent all School Resource Officers across North Carolina on the statewide panel, which is tasked with developing solutions to enhance school safety and support the physical, social, and emotional well-being of students.

Sheriff Darren Campbell praised the selection, stating, “Deputy Rankins is an outstanding representative for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and for School Resource Officers across North Carolina. His passion for protecting and guiding our students is unmatched, and I know he will serve this council with the same dedication he shows every day in our schools.”

The appointment recognizes Deputy Rankins’ years of commitment to creating safe and supportive school environments in Iredell County.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and the community congratulated Deputy Rankins, expressing pride in his role as a voice for SROs and student safety at the state level.
