STATESVILLE, NC – The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is warning of an uptick in scams involving impersonators posing as law enforcement officers to defraud residents.

Scammers often demand personal information or immediate payment through unconventional methods like gift cards or wire transfers, using threats of arrest or fines to intimidate victims.

Officials urge residents to remain vigilant:

  • Do not share personal or financial details over the phone.
  • Record caller information and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly at 704-878-3180.

Authorities stress they will never request payments over the phone or via unconventional methods.
