The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that both the suspect and the child involved in a recent parental abduction case have been located. Authorities report the child is safe. The investigation remains active, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

The case began when deputies said 30-year-old Carmen Edith Rodriguez was accused of taking 8-month-old Samantha Roetzel from a residence on Cotswold Court in western Iredell County. Rodriguez reportedly left in a black Kia K4 sedan, a Hertz rental with Virginia license plate TCB-9808. Investigators also noted that another unidentified Hispanic female was inside the vehicle.

Law enforcement initially believed Rodriguez may have been traveling in the direction of Mecklenburg County and began the process of seeking an Amber Alert.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for sharing information that assisted in the case and emphasized that updates will continue to be released as the investigation moves forward.
