Increased Fire Danger in Iredell County

by | Jan 29, 2025

Iredell County, NC – The National Weather Service has issued a warning for increased fire danger through the afternoon in Iredell County.

Conditions, including wind gusts between 25 to 35 mph, relative humidity values in the 20 to 30 percent range, and dry fuel moisture levels, are expected to create an environment where fires can spread quickly. These conditions will affect much of the North Carolina foothills, Piedmont, and the mountains.

The fire danger is expected to subside by this evening as winds taper off and humidity levels rise.

Residents are urged to check with local burn permitting authorities to determine if burning is allowed today. If burning is permitted, extreme caution is advised as fires can escalate rapidly under these conditions.
