General Motors (GM) has issued a recall affecting nearly 100,000 vehicles due to potential transmission issues that could pose a serious safety risk. The recall includes more than 90,000 Cadillac and Chevrolet Camaros, manufactured with faulty transmission systems that may experience internal damage.
The affected vehicles could experience a malfunction in their transmission that may cause the front wheels to lock up, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. This issue, while rare, has prompted the automaker to take swift action to prevent any potential accidents.
In response to the problem, GM has announced that it will notify owners of the affected vehicles by mail by the end of next month. The notification will provide detailed instructions on how owners can address the issue.
As part of the recall resolution, GM will offer affected vehicle owners a free software update to the transmission control module. This update, which will be installed at no cost to the owner, is expected to address the internal transmission damage concerns and prevent the risk of wheel lockup.
GM urges owners of the affected Cadillac and Chevrolet Camaros to stay informed by keeping an eye out for their official recall notice. In the meantime, the automaker is working closely with dealers to ensure that necessary steps are taken swiftly to resolve the issue.
For more information, GM customers can reach out to their local dealers or visit the company’s official recall website.
