STATESVILLE, N.C. (July 17, 2025) — A man wanted in Indiana on serious felony charges was arrested Wednesday in Iredell County with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies.

Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Unit and the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force in the arrest of Marvin Jose Vasquez-Martinez, who was wanted on an outstanding fugitive warrant from Indiana for rape and child molestation.

Vasquez-Martinez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was brought before Magistrate M. Russell. The magistrate issued a $1 million secured bond on the warrant.

During processing, officials determined that Vasquez-Martinez is in the country illegally. Staff at the detention center contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has since issued an immigration detainer. Vasquez-Martinez is currently being held on both the criminal charges and the ICE detainer.

No additional information has been released at this time regarding his extradition to Indiana.
