Iredell County firefighters battled another house fire Tuesday morning, marking the fourth structure fire reported in the county in recent days.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on December 23, multiple fire departments were dispatched to a two-story home on Mocksville Highway following reports of a working structure fire. Crews arrived to find heavy fire breaking through the roof at the rear of the residence, prompting an aggressive response to bring the blaze under control.
Firefighters worked quickly to attack the fire and prevent further spread. All occupants of the home, along with their pets, were able to escape safely before conditions worsened. No injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control just after 10:00 a.m., though crews remained on scene for some time to extinguish hot spots and ensure the home was safe. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
The incident comes amid a troubling stretch for Iredell County, with this fire being the fourth structure fire reported recently. Fire officials continue to urge residents to practice fire safety, ensure smoke alarms are working properly, and have an escape plan in place as crews remain busy responding to emergencies across the county.
