Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 850,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential low-pressure fuel pump failure that could cause engines to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects several Ford and Lincoln models from the 2021 through 2023 model years, including the Ford F-150, Bronco, Explorer, Mustang, Expedition, and various Super Duty trucks, as well as the Lincoln Aviator and Navigator.
According to Ford, the low-pressure fuel pump in the affected vehicles may fail, leading to a loss of fuel pressure and flow to the engine. Drivers may notice warning signs such as engine misfires, rough running, reduced engine power, or the illumination of the check engine light prior to a stall.
Ford said it is working on a fix for the issue and plans to notify vehicle owners by mail starting July 18, 2025. The company reported that it is not aware of any injuries related to the problem.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) began investigating the issue in September 2022 after receiving consumer complaints about power loss due to fuel pump failures.
Owners of affected vehicles are encouraged to watch for recall notices and contact their local Ford or Lincoln dealers for updates and repairs once the remedy becomes available.
