Ford Recalls 1.1 Million Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Malfunction

by | Jul 3, 2025

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 1.1 million vehicles in the U.S. due to a software defect affecting rearview camera systems. The issue may cause the camera image to freeze, delay, or fail to display when the vehicle is in reverse, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected models include:

  • Ford: 2021–2024 Bronco, Edge; 2021–2024 F‑150; 2023–2024 Escape, F‑250, F‑350, F‑450, F‑550, F‑600; 2022–2024 Expedition; 2022–2025 Transit; 2021–2023 Mach‑E; 2024 Ranger; 2024 Mustang.
  • Lincoln: 2021–2023 Nautilus; 2022–2024 Navigator; 2023–2024 Corsair.

This recall stems from reports to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after receiving 37 consumer complaints between 2021 and 2023. Ford indicated there has been one minor crash involving property damage connected to the defect, but no injuries have been reported.

Owners will begin receiving notification letters in mid-June, with follow-up letters sent once a repair is available, expected in the third quarter of the year. The remedy involves updating the infotainment or software module through dealership service or, for some vehicles, an over-the-air software update.

Vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service or check with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for more information and to determine if their vehicle is affected.
