Last night, Troutman Engine 2 and Brush 2 were dispatched to a reported grass and woods fire across the lake from Morrison Farm Road. After multiple calls came into the communications center, the incident was upgraded to a structure fire, prompting additional ground support from Iredell County and water units from both Catawba and Lincoln Counties.
At about the same time of the reported fire, power to a large portion of Troutman was lost, leaving over 9,000 residents without electricity. Crews worked through the evening, and power was restored at approximately 9 p.m.
Thanks to a strong joint effort from all responding agencies, the fire was successfully brought under control. Troutman Fire units remained on scene for overhaul and monitoring before clearing the area later in the evening.
The Troutman Fire Department expressed appreciation to all companies that responded to assist with the incident.
