This morning around 1:15 a.m., firefighters from multiple departments responded to a fire in the 600 block of Old Mountain Road.
Initially dispatched as a general incident, the call was upgraded to a structure fire based on information received en route. The response included units from the Troutman Fire Department (Engine 2, Engine 3, and Ladder 1), along with West Iredell, Monticello, and South Iredell Fire Departments, and Iredell County Emergency Medical Services.
Engine 1 from Troutman Fire Department arrived at approximately 1:23 a.m. and found a detached garage, located about 20 feet from a residence, with heavy smoke and flames visible. Firefighters declared a working structure fire and began suppression efforts.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control by 1:40 a.m. No injuries were reported.
Authorities expressed thanks to all mutual aid departments and to Iredell County EMS for assisting with rehabilitation services for personnel on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
