A residential fire broke out early Tuesday morning, May 27, on Cornelius Road in Mooresville, North Carolina, causing extensive damage to the home and prompting a multi-department emergency response.
According to Iredell Free News, the fire was reported at 6:21 a.m., with crews from Mooresville, Shepherds, South Iredell, and Mount Mourne fire departments responding to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames emanating from the rear of the structure. An aggressive interior attack was initiated, and all occupants were safely accounted for.
The blaze was brought under control by 6:59 a.m., but not before inflicting significant damage to the home. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced occupant. Cornelius Road was closed in both directions for approximately two hours, leading to major delays during the morning commute.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
